What do you get when you marry the talents of designer Nicolas Ghesquiére and photgrapher Ryan McGinley? You get the lookbook for Balenciaga mens S/S 09. I found a copy sitting in my mailbox yesterday. The photgraphy is quite beautiful and accurately captures the kind of austerity typical of the Balenciaga man. However, to actually get a sense of the clothes requires a trip to a Balenciaga store or to Barney's. But do we really mind? The images are appealing in that they peak our interests and get us excited. I know I am.

Givenchy S/S 09

Its seems as though Riccardo Tisci can do no wrong. During the past few seasons, the designer of the cult brand has created something magical with the womenswear, and now he is turning around the menswear as well. His latest collections for Givenchy are enchanting, so hard yet so elegant at the same time. I was a little skeptical as to how true to the runway the actual menswear pieces would be , but the current selection at Barney's is anything but demure: a leather vest, a mesh football jersey, degradé layered tank, and a tattoo printed tee which I was sold on the minute I saw it.

New Year. New Clothes.

With already a week and a half into the new year, I figured it was worth mentioning a few new year's 'firsts'. My first alcohol beverage of the new year was a glass of Moët at Mikey's party on New Year's Eve. I scarfed down some McDonald's after all the reveling, my first meal. I even kissed someone and....it was bad. As for my first purchase of the new year, a bordeaux cardigan and ruffled bib shirt from Burberry Prorsum A/W 08. I figure it was about time to reintroduce color back into an almost entirely black wardrobe.
