Acne <3 Lanvin

The much awaited collab between Lanvin and Acne (two of my favorites) officially comes out tomorrow, and will be stocked at both Barney's and the Acne boutique respectively. However, if you can't make it to either or would just rather forego the anticipated madhouse, it is available online through the Acne Studio site for pre-order.

As if you weren't already financially drained from all the recession sales.

MC

My initials finally arrived (only took about 2 months), which gave me a reason to check out the new 3-story Miu Miu mansion which opened yesterday on 57th. Gorgeous.

Today, I pinned them to my Comme Des Garçons wool blazer.

Good Night

It's almost 3AM. I am just getting home from some Friday evening debauchery.

I'm wearing a CDG Play cardigan, CDG x H&M tee, Ksubi Gee Gee jeans, and my favorite new shoes: my YSL Johnny boots.

Overdue

Argh! So it's been nearly two months since I placed an order for my Miu Miu initials (they're a bit absurd but I love it), and 9 months for my Harmon Parka (for all my hardwork as a unpaid showroom intern).

Where are they??

SA Love

Got this little thank you note today from Michelle over at Balenciaga. I've never met an SA as helpful and kind as her. I love the shirt!

'PS1' Perfection

Aside from being very talented designers of clothes, the boys of Proenza Schouler are also good at creating one lust-worthy bag. The gem of their debut accessories collection is the elusive 'PS1' bag. It has already generated plenty of buzz and although not officially released to the masses, the bag has been spotted slung around the shoulders of Vanessa Traina and Mary-Kate Olsen. Like my Givenchy Nightingale, it isn't the least bit ostentatious. It's only natural for me to gravitate to a bag that is simple, understated, and timeless, and practical.

The PS1 appears in Barney's Holiday Mailer (retailing at $1995), which is only making me and everyone else who wants this bag very very anxious.

Black. Black. Black.

I don't feel like going to class today.

I'm wearing a CDG tee, Miharayasuhiro scarf/vest, Uniqlo jeans, and black oxfords from Zara.

2½" - YSL Johnny Boot

Yesterday my heart melted, pacing around at Saks in a pair of these.

2½".

My president is black!

Old habits die hard.

So the Prada sample sale was a bust, that is, if you are a guy. The mens selection was rather miserable and was condensed down to just two racks. However, I ended up going home with a grey and black silk headband, $30 marked down from $185. Freshman year, it was all about lamé headbands from American Apparel. It was silly when I think about it now.

Bess for success

Oh so rad. Bess is about to blow up, these boots especially (almost every editorial in the latest i-D magazine had them featured). I suggest checking out the store next time you're strolling down Lafayette Street in SoHo. Lots of studs (on jeans, shoes, jackets), reworked vintage and rare vintage. And it ain't cheap either. In two words: lux punk. The studded combat boots are available at OAK and Bess.

Givenchy Nightingale

"It is a known fact that a woman do carry an evening bag at dinnertime." - from Paris is Burning

I couldn't have made a better choice. It's roomy, seductive and nondescript.

Coach 'Winslow' Boots

Who knew Coach made such lovely pairs of boots. I've been searching for a pair for quite some time. The straps are great, the long zipper pull, the fact that they come up past my calf a bit. I never really made use of my employee discount either, nor have I used it to purchase something nice for myself, so I figured it was about time.

Look who just turned 20...

There's not a drop of teenager left in me. I've pretty much partied every night until today today, so taking it easy is a must (my brain says "no", but my heart says "go"). I appreciate all the love from my friends and family as always, which a perfect birthday is not complete without. All I need now is a Louvré cake from Payard and a little shopping to top it off. And I think I hear those Givenchy shoes calling...

To spend or not to spend?

Are my eyes deceiving me? The Corner (Yoox's luxury concept boutique), has these Givenchy shoes for $134. Whereas Zappo's has them priced at $419. That's kind of a big difference in price between the two. Now I wasn't really in the market for a new pair of shoes, but now i'm really really tempted.

Snap Snap...

Last week, Starkweather and I were attacked on Bedford by a photographer for Wunderbloc. Wunderbloc is up-and-coming fashion site which has put together a great list of New York shops and boutiques, some we all know and love, and some we haven't heard of yet. You'll also find a gallery of stylish guys and gals they've meet along the way (which is where you'll find us).

Air Zoo

The 'Air Zoo' is an installation by artist Joshua Allen Harris. The plastic creatures, attached to subway vents, come to life as trains pass underneath and deflated soon after. Cool, no?

I never learned to ride a bicycle.

If I had actually learned to ride a bicycle as a child, and didn't have the traumatic experience of crashing into a fence in the process of learning, i'd probably be riding this beauty:

Arriving in August....

What is wrong with me? It's going to be April in a matter of days and i'm already thinking about Fall. The other day, I pre-ordered some AW 08 goodies from Harmon. I had my mind set on owning some Harmon for awhile. Andrew Harmon is such a free spirit and it translates directly into his clothes. It's never just about one idea or a singular theme that drives his collections, it's a whole slew of different influences and trains of thought. It's just the right amount of eccentricity. When I first saw the African mudcloth blazer from AW 07, I first thought, "It's not for me, but it's genius!". The piece i'm most looking foward to is everyone's perennial favorite, the Harmon parka. There's a reason why it keeps coming back every season and doesn't change.

Check out the latest collection here. Harmon is available at BBlessing, OAK, and Blackbird.

New York. Fashion. Spring.

Aside from the Philip Lim sandals i've been dying to wear, Spring has me excited for several other reasons.

The highly-acclaimed Takashi Murakami restrospective (formally at the MOCA), is coming to the Brooklyn Museum on April 5. And what's a Murakami retrospective exhibit without a Louis Vuitton pop-up store?

Spring means another installment of Uniqlo's annual Designer Invitation Project. Last season, the Japanese super-brand tapped Alexandre Plohkov to design a capsule collection for men. This Spring is all about Tim Hamilton and Loden Dager. I'm liking the knits, jackets, and button-downs. Not to mention the unbelievably accessible price points. I can only imagine who'll they'll invite next year. Perhaps Mr. Ervell?

Speaking of Patrik Ervell, his pretty face makes the cover of HE Magazine's Winter/Spring 08 issue. It's nice seeing New York designers get international attention. I mean, the one-day sample sale a few weeks back was a madhouse! I was lucky enough to walk away unscathed with an S/S 08 pleated tuxedo shirt and coordinating scarf. So it's only a sign of good things to come when there's a frenzy over New York menswear.
